The following images are of Wat Maha That in Ayutthaya, Thailand. Construction of this temple began in 1374. Ayutthaya was an international trading center in the 1500s and was said to be one of the largest cities in the world. In 1767, the Burmese army sacked the city and burned it to the ground. This particular temple was said to have housed relics of the Lord Buddha which are now in the Chao-sam Phraya National Museum.
